Brazil Published: Monday, January 15, 2007 17:00 (GMT -0400) Brazilian mobile operator Claro is likely to sign a major Brazilian bank as its first mobile banking customer in the next 15 days, according to Raul Pavão, marketing director at local mobile solutions specialist EverMobile.
Three local banks are in the final phase of tests, while another five institutions are at earlier stages of assessing the platform, known as J2ME, Pavão told BNamericas.
Claro aims to target its 22 million mobile phone users as well as customers of other companies with compatible handsets, Pavão said, without revealing the expected figures. The J2ME platform, which EverMobile is supplying, provides users with the full range of mobile banking services such as payments, transfers and account information, according to a statement by Claro. For Pavão the platform stands out because of its security features, performance and usability.
