Banrisul - Mobile Payments


Banrisul – one of the largest banking institutions in Brazil – expanded its offers with the mobile payment, service, which permits making purchases 100% over the cellphone. The solution, developed by EverMobile, integrated the payment option to the institution’s m-banking application. This application is the first in the world with these characteristics.

With Banrisul Celular, clients can make payments with utmost safety. The solution meets the needs of freelancers like ice cream vendors, beach kiosks and hot dog vendors, among other small and mid-size establishments.

In order to make the transaction, the merchant and the buyer only need to have accounts at the institution and a cellphone handset. At the moment of the purchase, the client accesses the m-banking feature and informs the cellphone number of the registered professional and the amount of the operation. The merchant then receives confirmation of the transaction.

All that is needed is a handset compatible with the J2ME platform, available for most mobile handsets on the market such as cellphones, PDAs and smartphones.

In 2007, Banrisul launched the mobile banking service, also developed by EverMobile, where clients began to have access to current account balances, integrated savings accounts and funds with automatic withdrawals, and they could also receive messages from the bank. The technology offered by EverMobile is based on the exclusive MobileFramework, available in J2EE and .NET, guaranteeing speed in integration and the development of new features.
